My detailed tutorial for the whimsical snowman soup Christmas ornament
Once you have your snowman soup ornament kit, sand each piece to remove any residue that may have been left from our laser machine.
After you sand and wipe the pieces to remove any dust, you can get ready to paint. I used paint markers for this DIY Christmas ornament, but you can also use acrylic paint if you want to.
I started by painting the hat black and the snowflakes with a metallic silver. Next, I used a sort of metallic bronze color paint marker for the spoon and light grey-ish blue for the cup itself.
Now, I did use acrylic paint to paint the actual snowman white along with the stripes on the straw next to the snowman and the little marshmallow pieces.
Once the white paint was completely dry, I filled in the remaining space on the straw with a red paint marker. For the carrot nose, of course I used an orange marker!
Next, I stained the snowman soup lettering with brown acrylic paint by using a baby white to apply a light layer of the paint to the letters. For the cardinals, I used red, black and yellow paint markers.
Add the finishing touches
To add the roasted effect to the mini marshmallows, I used a terracotta acrylic paint and lightly brushed it around the edges of the marshmallows.
Once all the painted parts were completely dried, I lightly distressed each of them and added some final detailing on each piece.
After I was happy with the paint finish on each piece, I started gluing them together with super glue! The last step is to add the hanger. For mine, I used jute twine.
Here is an example of one my niece painted!
