How to make this Simple Patriotic Home Decor
Start this simple patriotic home decor idea by creating your surface. I used paint stick rulers to make mine. Lay them down twelve wide with the ruler’s side facing up.

Glue paint sticks across the ones laid out to secure them together and create the surface for your patriotic sign.
Flip the paint sticks over and paint the front of your surface with white paint. Allow it to dry completely, then apply a coat of Mod Podge.
How to decoupage a napkin
Separate the plies of your blue buffalo check napkin and place the ply with the design onto the surface. Cover with a piece of plastic saran wrap and use a rolling pin to smooth out the napkin.
Once the Mod Podge is dry, use a sanding sponge to tear the excess napkin from the paint stick surface.

Next, I removed the sticker from the back of the star sign by melting the glue with my heat gun. Trace the shape of the star sign onto the adhesive tile and cut it to shape.
Glue the adhesive tile star onto the star sign. Paint the front of the tile with white paint, and place the white ply from your napkin onto the white paint.
Push it onto the star with the paintbrush to use the paint to secure the napkin onto the tile. Allow the paint to dry completely and tear the excess napkin off the star.

Next, I very lightly brushed red paint over the front of the star. You just want the paint to catch on the raised portions of the star to highlight its detailing.
Bring it all together
For the next part, you can use any ribbon you want, but I used navy denim, white lace, and red with white stars. Cut a few pieces, lay them in an X pattern, and secure them together with a piece of twine.

For the hanger, you can either thread wood beads (I buy mine on Amazon) onto some twine, or you can use wood bead garland from Dollar Tree.
Either way, glue the ends of the twine onto the back of the paint stick surface. Then, glue the star to the front of the paint stick surface and glue the ribbon bow on the front of the star!
Lastly, I lightly distressed the decoupaged napkin on the paint stick surface to expose the white paint beneath it.
For this project, I used these items but you can substitute where you want.
