Repurposed Dollar Tree Rug DIY Pillow

Who says you have to sell a kidney or give an arm and a leg for a decorative pillow?? You can do what I did and make a Repurposed Dollar Tree Rug DIY Pillow!

I seriously am in LOVE with this adorable DIY pillow, so I just had to share it with you. And yes, I used my DIY pillow as decor in my own bedroom!

For this project, I will be using these items, but you can substitute where you want.

• Dollar Tree Rug
• Poly-Fill
• White Fabric
• Scissors
• Hot Glue gun
• Glue Sticks

How to Make a Repurposed Dollar Tree Rug DIY Pillow

The first thing I did for this project was traced my wooden cactus on the white fabric. You can free-hand your cactus or find a cactus that you can trace onto the fabric.

I put three cactuses on my pillow, so I traced it three times and cut three cactuses out of the white fabric.

Next, I hot glued the three fabric cactuses onto the rug, then folded the Dollar Tree rug in half and hot glued two of the open sides completely shut.

You have to leave one side of the rug open to add the poly-fill. Once the glue is dried on the other two sides, stuff your DIY pillow with the poly-fill.

Once you’re happy with the pillow’s fullness, hot glue the third side of the rug shut. Lastly, I made sure the cactuses were still completely glued down to the rug!
