Yes, you read that right! I am going to show you How to make a hula hoop shelf using items from Dollar Tree and Lowes Home Improvement!
We have seen these all over Youtube and Pinterest but this week in the Creative Haven VIP members were able to submit DIY project ideas of things they wanted to make and this one was voted in the top 4 by the Creative Haven Members!
Due to the cost of lumber I decided to go with pre-cut 2×4’s from Lowes to make this high end looking hula hoop shelf.
I am really excited for this DIY Decor project because I actually purchased one of these shelves recently at HomeGoods and I am thinking if this one turns out looking the way I hope it does….
You guessed it. I will be taking the one I purchased back!
Does anyone else do that?? Buy something, then decide you can make it for less and then return it. I hope I am not the only one who does that.

SUPPLY LIST
You will need: (items shown in the photo or any substitution you prefer) Don’t forget, you are not required to use the exact items! “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”
- Dollar Tree hula hoops you will need 2 (i am using the 20 inch ones)
- Black Spray Paint (I am using Rustoleum Flat Black )
- You will need 2 – 2x4x2’s I got mine at Lowes you can also get the 2x4x2’s at Home Depot
- D-Rings
- Rubber Washers
- Screws of your choice that are long enough to go through
- 1 5- gallon paint stick
- Brown Paint (I am using burnt umber)
- Glue Gun Surebonder or the Ryobi Mini Glue Gun with Battery Packs
- Hot Glue
- E6000 (optional)
- Scissors / Aviation Snips
- DRILL and DRILL BITS I use Ryobi and Black and Decker tools and accessories
You can order in Bulk at Dollar Tree also if you like!
I can not tell you exactly how much we will use until the project is completed. I give you a list of what I am using. We will discuss in the Creative Haven other alternatives you can use!
Please substitute where you can!
If it is not in your budget to purchase supplies, please get creative and think outside the box! Ask yourself, “What else could you use?” Furthermore, do you have things at home you can use?
