How to Make a Farmhouse Blue Polka Dot Pumpkin Fall Decor
I started this project by removing the backing from the Dollar Tree framed sign. Then, lay the giant craft sticks across the surface to see how many you need.
Hot glue the giant craft sticks on the cardboard backing and use a pair of scissors to trim the excess from around the square.
Next, you’re going to stain the giant craft sticks. Pour your brown paint (I used Apple Barrel Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint) directly onto the surface and use a wet wipe to spread the paint.
Allow the wood to dry completely (I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process), then use a dry chippy paintbrush to lightly apply the Waverly white chalk paint.
Don’t go for full coverage and you’ll get an effortless, distressed finish! You can set the craft sticks to the side for now and grab the Dollar Tree sign box.
Paint the sides and edges of the sign box with black paint. I used Apple Barrel Black Acrylic Paint for this.
How to decoupage fabric
Next, you need to separate the pumpkins from the Dollar Tree pumpkin napkin holder. I used a hammer to separate them gently.
Then, trace the pumpkin onto the back of the blue polka dot fabric. Then, cut the pumpkin out of the fabric, apply a coat of Mod Podge to the wood pumpkin, and place the fabric on the surface.
Now, cut a piece of the Dollar Tree bath mat to fit inside the Dollar Tree sign box and hot glue it face-down inside the sign box.
Bring it all together
Put the craft stick backing back into the frame and hot glue the Dollar Tree sign box to the center of the craft sticks. Then, paint the metal leaf white and hot glue it to the pumpkin by the stem.
To make the bow, tear a piece of the fall leaves fabric and cut a piece of the ticking fabric that is thinner than the leaf fabric.
Hot glue it to the center of the fall leaf fabric, fold the fabric into the shape of a bow and secure it with a piece of jute twine.
Now, hot glue the magnetic buttons to the back of the pumpkin and then put some hot glue on the other side of the magnets and press the pumpkin onto the sign.
Hot glue it onto the pumpkin with some raffia behind it and a small button over the center of it. Then, hot glue some eucalyptus coming from behind the bow.
Twist a piece of wired jute cord around a pencil or pen and hot glue it coming from behind the bow as well.
Finally, make the hanger! Thread the beads onto a piece of jute twine and hot glue the ends to the back of the sign.
