Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Lemon Cutting Board Decor

I am seriously in love with this Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Lemon Cutting Board Decor, probably because it comes with options!

I made two different farmhouse crates to go on this Dollar Tree cutting board DIY, and you can switch them out with magnets!

How to Make a Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Lemon Cutting Board Decor

You need to separate the plies of your shiplap lemon wreath napkin before you can decoupage it to the Dollar Tree cutting board.

Otherwise, the top ply (the one with the pattern) might not adhere properly to the cutting board and could start to peel up later.

Cut out the portion of the napkin that you’re going to decoupage on the cutting board. Also, cut part of the shiplap portion from another section to go below the lemon wreath.

Apply Mod Podge to the cutting board and place the napkin pieces on the cutting board. Once the Mod Podge was dry, I used a sanding sponge to tear off the excess napkin.

There was a little piece of the lemon design from another section, so I painted over it with Folkart white chalk paint.

How to stain wood

Next, you’re going to stain two Dollar Tree mini crates. Mix a little bit of black paint with water and brush it onto the crates.

Wipe the excess paint/water mixture off with a wet wipe. Then, paint the three lemon circles with the yellow paint.

Paint the lemon slice design back onto the circles with black paint. Very lightly paint over the design with more yellow paint to fade the design a bit.

Highlight the lemon slice with a bit of white paint. Once the paint is dry, sand over each of them with a sanding sponge.

Take the caps off all three travel bottles and wrap twine around the bottles several times and tie it in a little bow.

Hot glue the three wooden lemon circles to the front of one of the mini crates, and hot glue the magnetic buttons to the back of the crate.

Then, hot glue four of the wood craft cubes to the bottom of the crate to make little feet. Hot glue magnetic buttons to the cutting board to line up with the ones on the crate.

Bring it all together

Fill your Dollar Tree travel bottles with the flowers of your choice (I used Dollar Tree white flowers) and hot glue the travel bottles inside the crate.

Lastly, wrap a piece of buffalo check ribbon around the handle of the Dollar Tree cutting board and tie it in a knot.

Cut the ribbon tails and hot glue it in place. Take another piece of ribbon, loop it over itself, cinch the center with a piece of jute twine, and hot glue it to the ribbon on the cutting board.

The other option for this DIY project is to take the second Dollar Tree mini crate and still hot glue the wood cubes and magnetic buttons like you did with the first one.

However, instead of using the lemon slices and travel bottles, you just fill the crate with fake lemons!
