Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter
I had so much fun making this adorable Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter! Honestly, I am just a little obsessed with this project because it is so simple and affordable to make!
Almost every part of this project came from Dollar Tree (y’all know how much I love my Dollar Tree!), and it even uses the Dollar Tree 2021 Simply Blessed calendar!

How to Make a Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter
The first thing you’re going to do for this Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter is cut out the design you want to use from the back page of the Dollar Tree 2021 Simply Blessed calendar.
Then, you’re going to stain the wooden square with your brown paint. I like to use Apple Barrel burnt umber acrylic paint because it is affordable and still great quality!
Spray the wood with a bit of water, pour the brown paint onto the wood, then use a wet wipe to spread the paint across the surface.
Remove any excess paint with a clean wet wipe, then allow the wood to dry completely. I like to use my heat gun to speed up the drying process.
Then, apply a coat of Mod Podge to the stained Dollar Tree wooden rectangle and place the calendar cutout onto the surface.
Let the Mod Podge dry, then go over the edges of the wooden rectangle with a sanding sponge to remove the excess paper.
Next, you’re going to use the Dollar Tree farm to table sign. Start by painting inside the sign box with your brown paint.
Then, I used a pair of aviation snips to remove the top portion from the sign box. You can set the farm to table portion to the side and use it in another DIY project later!
Now, lay the white picket fence over the Dollar Tree mini crate and trim it so that it fits over the front of the crate.
How to stain wood
Mix a bit of brown paint and water in a small bowl. Then, use a wet wipe to spread the mixture over your Dollar Tree mini crate and the Dollar Tree wood craft cubes.
I smudge a bit of the paint/water mixture onto the white picket fence to make it look like an older, more realistic fence.
I also smudged the brown around the face of the sign box, because I wanted this Dollar Tree calendar DIY shelf sitter to have an aged, farmhouse feel.
Once the wood is completely dry, hot glue the wood craft cubes to one side of the mini crate. You want the crate to be open on the side, so one side is going to become the bottom of this shelf sitter.
Then, hot glue the decoupaged calendar cutout inside the mini sign box, and hot glue the fence across the opening of the mini crate.
Stuff some of the Dollar Tree Spanish moss inside the mini crate, then fill the rest of the space with your greenery.
Finally, finish this Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter by hot gluing the mini sign box to the top of the mini crate!
I hope you enjoyed this Dollar Tree Calendar DIY Shelf Sitter as much as I did and decide to make it for yourself! If you do, I would love to see how yours turns out!
