Oh, I bet you have seen tons of wall-sconce ideas all over the internet especially on Pinterest. Personally, I know I have but this week in the Creative Haven my VIP members were able to submit DIY project ideas of things they wanted to make, and this one was voted in the top 4 by the Creative Haven Members!
OK, I get it! I know as of 2021 lumber prices are through the roof! And for us crafters and DIYers, we are very much into budget-friendly decor projects. I decided to go with 1x3s for this project to keep the lumber cost down.
Home Decor ideas using dollar tree items
I will be using items from the Dollar Tree but you can certainly use items from your craft stash or items from other places where you score some great finds.
DIY Hanging Mason Jar Wall Sconces
There are endless possibilities to make this your own style. You can decide to use a different color paint for the board, a different style hook, or change out the lights and flowers.
Just have fun and get creative with it. This DIY project will be so easy that you will be making a ton of these and these Hanging Jar Wall Sconces would make a great Christmas gift too!

SUPPLY LIST
You will need: (items shown in the photo or any substitution you prefer) Don’t forget, you are not required to use the exact items! “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”
- Dollar Tree plant hanger
- Black Spray Paint (I am using Rustoleum Flat Black )
- 2 Dollar Tree Ball Mason Jars (yes, I got mine at Dollar Tree)
- You will need 8 – 1×3’s cut 16 inches
- 2 – 1×3’s cut 10 inches (i had the hardware store cut all my wood for me)
- D-Rings
- Jute or twine
- 2 hooks with threads
- 4 quart size paint sticks
- 2 packs of fariy garden lights
- 1 pack of AA batteries
- Brown Paint (I am using burnt umber)
- Glue Gun Surebonder or the Ryobi Mini Glue Gun with Battery Packs
- Hot Glue
- E6000 (optional)
- Scissors / Aviation Snips
- DRILL and DRILL BITS I use Ryobi and Black and Decker tools and accessories

I can not tell you exactly how much we will use until the project is completed. I give you a list of what I am using. We will discuss in the Creative Haven other alternatives you can use!
