How to Make a DIY Farmhouse Chicken Wire Home Sign
The Dollar Tree sign that I used for this project had the metal home lettering, so I had to remove the lettering. I used my putty knife to scrape the metal lettering off the sign.
You can find metal lettering, like the one I used, and simply glue it to your sign if you can’t find the same sign I used.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it, but I know it was from Dollar Tree. You can watch the DIY tutorial video replay to see the sign I used.
Then, I had to use my pliers to remove the staples from the back of the Dollar General sign to remove the sheep without damaging the chicken wire.
Next, I removed the twine hanger from the Dollar Tree sign and painted the back of it white. I applied a coat of Mod Podge over the white paint and pressed the scrapbook paper onto the surface.
You can use a rolling pin to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles in the scrapbook paper. Let the Mod Podge dry and fully secure the paper, then cut the excess paper from around the sign.
Bring it all together
I poked holes in the scrapbook paper where the holes in the sign were so I could reattach the twine hanger.
I just pushed the twine through the holes, threaded the wood beads onto the twine, and tied the ends in knots.
Then, I hot glued the farmhouse frame onto the Dollar Tree sign. Before I hot glued the metal lettering onto the sign, I painted it navy (to match my bedroom decor).
