DIY Fabric Sunflower Fall Sign
Who doesn’t love sunflower decor in Fall?? I know I do, which is why I’m so excited to share this DIY fabric sunflower fall sign with you!
How to Make a DIY Fabric Sunflower Fall Sign
Start this project by tracing the shape of the circle sign on the peel and stick wallpaper. Cut the circle out of the wallpaper and remove the sticker from the back of the circle sign.
Peel the back off the wallpaper and stick it to your sign! Next, I painted a piece of fabric with brown paint to go behind the burlap so you don’t see the wallpaper’s grey through it.
Make your sunflowers
Next, I started working on the sunflowers. I traced the top of my paint bottle on cardboard and cut out the circles.
Fold your yellow fall fabric like you’re making one of those paper fans. Draw the shape of your petal on the folded fabric and cut them out. You can watch the video to see exactly what I did.
Hot glue your petals around the outer edge of the cardboard circles. Then, cut circles out of the black/ white polka dot fabric and hot glue them over the center of your sunflowers.
Once the paint is dry on your fabric if you had to paint it as I did, hot glue the burlap and brown fabric across the bottom half of the circle sign.
Twist two pipe cleaners together to create the stem for each of the sunflowers. Hot glue the stems to the back of each flower and paint them with green paint (unless you use green pipe cleaners).
Bring it all together
Next, I started working on the wood bead garland! I put the wood bead garland in a small plastic mixing bowl and sprayed them with water.
Then, I poured some Waverly chalk paint into another small mixing bowl. I hot glued the two bowls together to make a secure container and shook the beads around until they were evenly coated with paint.
I pried the bowls apart, pulled the beads out, laid them on a piece of cloth, sprayed them with water again, then rolled them around to remove the excess paint from the beads.
Let the wood bead garland dry completely, then hot glue it around the outer edge of the sign. Slide the stems of the sunflowers into the burlap pocket and secure them in place.
Next, paint the wood lettering with the same chalk paint you used to stain the wood bead garland. Let the paint dry, and hot glue the lettering over the burlap pocket.
Now, push the raffia down into the burlap pocket and have it poke out the top, almost like grass. Lastly, take the remaining stained bead garland and hot glue the ends to the back of the sign.
This creates the hanger! You can hot glue cardboard, fabric, or ribbon over the ends of the garland to further secure it to the sign.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY Fabric Sunflower Fall Sign as much as I did and decide to make it for yourself! If you do, I would love to see how yours turns out!
