DIY Give Thanks Sign with a Dollar Tree Cutting Board
Okay, I’ve used a Dollar Tree plastic cutting board before and I’ve used printables before, so this DIY Give Thanks Sign with a Dollar Tree Cutting Board isn’t revolutionary, but it is ADORABLE!
Printables are such a great resource when it comes to DIY home decor because they allow you to customize your decor and you can design your own!

- Ticking Fabric
- Black Buffalo Check Fabric
- White Paint
- Waverly Antique Wax

How to Make a DIY Give Thanks Sign with a Dollar Tree Cutting Board
The first step of making a fall sign out of a Dollar Tree cutting board is picking your printable design! I used my own design, and you can get a copy in my shop if you want!
GET THE GIVE THANKS PRINTABLE FROM THIS PROJECT
Then, you need to place the printable on the cutting board and press down on the paper to get the indentions of the cutting board on the paper.
Once you do that, you’ll know where to cut around the printable design. Set the printable to the side and coat the front of the cutting board with the Waverly Antique Wax.
I used my heat gun to quickly dry wax on the cutting board, then gently wiped over the board with a wet wipe to pull up some of the wax.
To add some depth and dimension to the cutting board, I added in some Apple Barrel burnt umber acrylic paint.
Once the brown paint was dry, I painted a coat of white paint on the front of the cutting board. I dried the paint (with my heat gun) then drug a putty knife over the surface.
This pulled up some of the white paint and created a distressed finish on the cutting board. Then, I applied a coat of Mod Podge to the cutting board and placed the give thanks printable on the surface.
To blend the printable onto the surface of the cutting board and make it look like it was always there, I brushed some white paint around the edges of the printable and lightly over the design.
Bring it all together!
Now it’s time to make your bow! Get the ribbon patterns that you want to use and cut several strips of each of them as well as some strands of raffia.
Lay them in an X pattern, alternating ribbon patterns as you go, and secure the center with a zip tie or a piece of jute twine.
Trim the ends of the ribbon strips and raffia to even up your bow. Finally, hot glue your messy bow to the handle of your Dollar Tree cutting board!
