How to decoupage a Dollar Tree plastic vase
The first way to repurpose a vase is to decoupage your favorite napkin pattern onto it! Start by separating the plies of the napkin you’re using.
You only need the top ply with the design on it because it you try to decoupage them both, the top ply might not adhere properly.
Then, apply a coat of Mod Podge to one side of the vase and press your napkin onto the Mod Podge. Let it dry (I used my heat gun) then remove the excess napkin.
The vase that I used had a smaller bottom than top, so if I just wrapped the napkin around, the pattern would have been crooked.
I used a sanding sponge and lightly sanded the edges where I wanted the napkin to tear. Then, go to the next side of the vase and repeat the process.
Keep going until the entire vase is covered with your napkin! Now, pick your favorite floral or greenery spray to go in your vase, and wrap some lace ribbon around the vase and tie it in a bow!
How to repurpose a Dollar Tree glass vase
For this next idea, I used a glass Dollar Tree vase, Dollar Tree adhesive diamond wrap, some paint, and jute twine!
Start, by sticking the adhesive diamond wrap to the bottom half of your vase. I had to trim the sheet of diamond wrap to make it fit my vase.
Then, paint the entire vase, including the adhesive diamond wrap. I dried the vase with my heat gun, then applied another coat of paint.
Make sure you paint the bottom of the vase as well, then allow the paint to dry completely. Again, I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process.
Lastly, wrap jute twine around the concave part of the vas, tie it in a bow, and fill the vase with your favorite flowers!
Another way to repurpose a glass vase with paint
The vase that I used for this idea is the one with raised dots all over it. Start by mixing some white paint with a bit of spackling in a small bowl.
Clean your vase with a bit of Sprayway glass cleaner and then brush the paint/spackling mixture onto the vase.
I slide the vase on my hand, painted the bottom of the vase, then dried all the paint with my heat gun. Once it was dry, I painted the top of the vase.
Next, I painted over the entire vase with navy blue paint. You can use any paint color you want, but navy matches my bedroom decor!
I let the navy paint dry, then painted white dots on each of the raised bumps on the vase. Then, I painted a white line around the top of the vase.
Lastly, fill the vase with your favorite floral arrangement, wrap a white lace ribbon around the top of the vase and tie it in a bow!
How to use Dollar Tree stickers to repurpose a glass vase
Start this glass vase makeover by sticking Dollar Tree dot stickers onto the glass vase. Then, paint the entire vase, including the stickers, with your paint.
You can use whatever paint color you want, but I went with a pastel pink. Slide the vase on your hand so you can paint the bottom, then let the paint dry.
Once the paint is dry, you can fill the vase with your favorite flowers! I chose to keep this vase simple, but you could add some lace or twine to add some more detail if you wanted to.
5th way to repurpose a glass vase
The vase that I used for this already had embossed detailing in the glass, so I simply painted the entire vase with a grey paint.
Once the paint was dry, I used a dry rag to apply Kilz Dark Wax over the paint. This creates an aged, vintage look for the vase.
You can go back over the vase with a wet wipe to pull some of the paint up and give the vase a kind of distressed look.
