Step by step instructions to create DIY Faux Stained Glass Butterfly Sun Catcher:
1. Paint or Stain the Outline
Paint the butterfly wood outline black for a stained glass look, or stain it for a natural wood finish. Let dry completely.
2. Apply Transfer Tape
Flip the outline face-down and apply paper transfer tape to the back. Press firmly so all the open spaces are sealed. You can use a brayer to help adhere the transfer tape securely to the back of the wood laser cut outline frame.
3. Add Crushed Glass
With the outline now face up, fill each section with the appropriate crushed glass colors, We have so many fun crushed glass colors you can find them here!
4. Add & Cure Resin
Mix your resin according to the manufacturers instructions. Then, Slowly pour resin over the crushed glass to fill each section. let it cure fully if using epoxy resin. If using uv resin, be sure to use clear transfer tape so you can cure both sides of the project.
5. Peel & Seal
Once cured, carefully peel off the transfer tape. Admire your work! If you want to add another coat of resin to seal your project you can but it is not necessary!
6. Hang & Enjoy
Add string or hooks through the top holes and display your finished sun catcher in a sunny window! Remember Resin can yellow over time. Maybe not right away but it can. Do not place in direct sunlight. Display in a covered area.

Crushed Glass, glitter, alcohol inks or mica powders
Wax Paper / Protective barrier over table
Paper Transfer Tape, low tack Contact Paper,
masking tape, removable
vinyl or resin tape
*Don’t use permanent vinyl!
Tweezers, tooth picks, small paint brushes
Bowls to hold your glass (dollar tree has these)
Stir stick and cup for mixing resin or these
Hair dryer or Heat Gun
optional 91% isopropyl alcohol to help pop bubbles
