3 Glass Candle Holder DIY Ideas
I want to show you 3 Glass Candle Holder DIY Ideas! I only have videos for one of these DIY Dollar Tree Candle Holder Farmhouse Decor Ideas, but they all follow pretty much the same DIY process.
Watch the replay
The first Dollar Tree candle holder DIY I’m going to show you has two Facebook Live video replays. The first is just me gluing the pieces together while I talk and have fun with my Crafty Crew.
The second video shows the painting and the rest of the DIY process, with some more talking and fun! If you want to join in on the crafting and fun, you can watch the replays!
Candle Holder Use #1
The first idea for these Dollar Tree candle holders is a plant stand! With a little bit of paint and glue, you can turn basic glass candle holders and a plain glass bowl into adorable farmhouse decor.
For this project, I will be using these items but you can substitute where you want.

- Dollar Tree Glass candle stands (x2)
- Dollar Tree Small Glass Bowl
- Dixie Belle Fluff Chalk Paint
- DIY Black Clay Based Paint
Let’s get started
You’re going to start by gluing the two candle holders together with one of them upside down.
I used E6000 to glue them together because hot glue wouldn’t give me a secure enough bond. Just remember that when you use E6000 that you need to allow for about 24 hours for the glue to completely dry.
Then, glue a glass bowl to the top of the joined candle holders. Again, I used E6000 to get a more secure bond. To make sure they stay in place while you wait for the glue to dry, you can wrap the seams in tape.
Once all the glue is completely dry, you’re ready to paint! I used Dixie Belle Fluff and DIY Black Clay-based paint to paint my DIY plant holders.
First, you’re going to paint the glass candle holders and the small glass bowl black. I used DIY clay-based paint because it adds texture to the very smooth glass. For even more texture, dab the paint onto the surface instead of brushing it onto the glass.
Allow the paint to completely dry before you start painting the glass with white paint. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process. If you don’t have one, you can use a hairdryer on the low cool setting!
Keep a light hand and you’ll be able to see a small bit of the black paint peeking through and you’ll end up with the perfect finish on your DIY Dollar Tree candle holder plant stands!
You can add or remove candle holders to change the heights of your plant stands and add some dimension to your decor!
Candle Holder Use #2
The next DIY decor idea I want to share with you is very similar to the DIY plant stands, but instead of using a small glass bowl, you’re going to need a mini pie dish!
For this project, I will be using these items but you can substitute where you want.

- Dollar Tree Glass candle stands (x2)
- Buffalo Check Scrapbook Paper
- Mini Pie Dish
- Dixie Belle Fluff Chalk Paint
- DIY Black Clay-based Paint
- Mod Podge
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Start with the same process as before – glue two candle holders together with one of them upside down. Then, glue the mini pie dish to the top candle holder. Allow the glue to completely dry, and get ready to paint.
Once the glue is dry, paint the glass with black DIY clay-based paint. Remember, dab it instead of brushing it! Let the black paint dry and paint it over with white.
Finally, once the white paint has dried, you’re going to hot glue (or Mod Podge) a small circle of buffalo check scrapbook paper to the inner circle of the mini pie dish!
Candle Holder Use #3
The third DIY decor idea uses metal dog bowls for the topper instead of a small glass bowl or mini pie dish! Just like with the last two projects, you’re going to glue two glass candle holders together with one upside down.
Unlike the previous two DIY ideas, you’re going to paint the glass candle holders before you attach the top piece. Unless you want your dog bowl painted as well (I didn’t).
First, paint the candle holders black with your DIY clay-based paint. Dab the paint onto the glass instead of brushing it to get a textured finish.
Allow the black paint to dry, then paint it over with white paint (I used Dixie Belle Fluff Chalk Paint). Let the white paint dry completely before you move on.
